I've spent a lot of time looking at Joseph Albers and Mark Rothko and I have been influenced by Ronald Davis, a contemporary American artist best known for his work associated with Geometric Abstraction, Abstract Illusionism, Lyrical Abstraction, and Hard-Edge painting.
These house shapes are interesting to paint, 6 sides different, a sort of continuous painting in 3-D. I want these little house shapes to defy cuteness, to convey directness and vulnerability, to be objects one can pick up and examine closely.
